SED Flow Control, GmbH was founded in 1984 and began manufacturing Industrial and Plastic Diaphragm Valves, Angle Seat Valves and Flow Meters. In 1996 the Aseptic Diaphragm Valve was first released to compliment their existing product line. In 1997, SED Flow Control began marketing and supplying their products in the United States through another valve manufacturer. SED Distribution Group opened in 2002 as the exclusive supplier in the North American market. SED Distribution Group became a division of Harrington Industrial Plastics, LLC in 2008 as SED North America. All three companies, SED Flow Control, GmbH, Bad Rappenau, Germany, SED North America, Woodridge, IL and Harrington Industrial Plastics, LLC, with over 50 branch locations are all members of the Aliaxis Group of Companies.

All SED aseptic diaphragm valve bodies and materials used in fabrications contain a heat number that is traceable to the material properties and physical composition per ASME BPE Table MM-2.2-1. SED North America supplies Material Test Reports, EN 10204 inspection certificate 3.1b with every valve or fabrication manufactured. Diaphragm materials meet FDA 21CFR177.2600 for Elastomers, FDA 21CFR177.1550 for Perfluorocarbon Resins, USP 87 & 88 Class VI, 3A and EMEA/410/01 – TSE/BSE (ADCF) Minimizing Risk of Transmitting Animal Spongiform Encephalopathy. All diaphragms are fully traceable back to the lot and batch. A Material Analysis Traceability Certificate DIN EN 10204 3.1 is supplied with all diaphragms.
